OPERATION CHURCH MOUSE
Putting volunteers, donated resources, and churches together to create WOW!
A typical church website sob story - our church needs a quality website to speak to potential visitors and connect members... it needs to reach out and grab your attention with up-to-date information, events, and resources... ...BUT.. here is the problem...
- OUR DEVELOPER - is a guy in our church who voluteered but only knows a limited amount about web stuff. He also has limited time.
- OUR UP-KEEP - is lacking... things aren't kept up to date - for example we are still advertising a pot-luck dinner that happened 4 months ago and several of our key church programs are not yet featured on the site.
- OUR FUNCTIONALITY - well... we have no method of sharing prayer requests or even sending emails to all of our members... we are not sure that the website is worth the money that we have been sinking into it.
- OUR IMAGE - The website is cute, but it does not give an inviting feeling... we are afraid that we may be loosing potential visitors.
- OUR COST - is too high for our limited budget. We payed thousands of dollars to create the initial website and we are now paying a hunk of change each month... we don't even know if our expenses are typical or not... the biggest problem is that we are having trouble affording it.
The answer to providing high-quality websites to churches is found in addressing each area of potential problems...
- COST - is kept low by using volunteers to help develop the website and by providing the ability for church staff to update the site on their own without any web development knowlege.
- FUNCTIONALITY - is enhanced by providing utilities and resources that make the end product the perfect place for church and community - prayer lists, directories, event calendar, distribution lists, etc.
- QUALITY & EXPERTISE - come from providing the development team with a vast array of ideas, instructions, and access to techs who can help make it happen.
- IMAGE - High quality design come from the re-use of proven graphics templates and by including volunteer graphics artists in the developement team.
